Of Shallows & Depths - Introducing the Companion Books series
At The Line Atelier, we believe in the quiet luxury of reflection - the art of slowing down, of dwelling with beauty a little longer.
This philosophy has found its way into our newest venture: the Companion Books series.
Â
The first in the series, Of Shallows & Depths, is now available.
It brings together Claude Monet`s paintings with impressionistic poems, each pair inviting a new way of seeing. Between them, we`ve left spaces for you - blank pages that wait for your thoughts, sketches, fragments, or reflections.
Â
A Conversation Between Art & Words
Each spread is designed as a dialogue: Monet`s brushstrokes in conversation with a poem, and you as the third voice.
Sometimes the poems echo the colors and textures of the canvas:
Basking
    Baking
       Billowing
           Blunt
    Wreath me in
                Heat   Â
     tender and dull
     seep into my pores
Â
Other times they pause for breath, opening a moment of vulnerability:
Â
A moment
        please
A moment
         for
             thought
         for
              sensibility
         for
               wounded pride
Just a moment
         if you would
               indulge me
                  have mercy on me
Â
And sometimes they wander into unexpected terrain, transforming a rain-slick promenade into something surreal, mischievous, alive:
Â
I`ll swim away in
     the gutter stream
I`ll be      Â
      Loki the Wild Salmon
Â
An Invitation to Companioning
These books are not just to be read, but companioned - carried, scribbled in, leafed through, revisited. Like a silk scarf or a familiar passage of music, a Companion Book is something you return to, discovering new textures with time.
It is a book to gift, to keep by your bedside, to carry into a café, or to open on a quiet afternoon with pen in hand.
Â
A Growing Collection
Of Shallows & Depths is only the beginning. Future Companion Books will continue to explore the intersections of art, poetry, and personal reflection - each one a conversation, each one a companion.
